Welcome Message
The Office of Research, Innovation and Consultancy (ORIC) is the research, innovation and consultancy administration and management arm of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT). Our mission is to provide effective and efficient research, consultancy and innovation support services which are consistent with world class universities to staff and students of UMaT. Over the years, UMaT staff have engaged in cutting edge research in the fields of mining and technology to tackle mining, environmental, energy, and other socio-economic challenges in the country. ORIC is committed to ensuring that these researches are conducted in the most effective and efficient manner by providing the needed support services and by extension, identifying, developing and protecting the University’s intellectual property and promoting technology transfer in the public and private sector. ORIC represents the interests of the University in contractual relationships, grant applications and in administering the resultant projects as well as managing the University’s enterprises. ORIC is governed by eleven member Board with an oversight responsibility over the office and its activities. With this short message, I wish you a stimulating experience as you explore our website.
